MechWarriors are the soft, creamy filling of the gigantic tin cans that prowl the battlefields of Battletech. Without them, a mech is just a piece of scrap.
MechWarriors each have four Skill ratings from 1-10:
Gunnery determines ranged attack to-hit %.
Piloting determines Melee, Death-From-Above attack to-hit %, Death-From-Above self inflicted leg damage, Unsteady threshold, Evasive amount allowed, Initiative, and maximum Sprint distance.
Tactics determines your line-of-sight (LOS) distance, information gained from radar blips, Called Shot attack to-hit %, minimum fire range reduction on all weapons, and Indirect Fire penalties with missiles.
Guts determines Overheating threshold, Hitpoints, Injuries allowed before Incapacitated, Recoil from ballistic weapons, and chance for a pilot to be killed if the cockpit is destroyed or they receive maximum injuries.
MechWarriors also have powerful MechWarrior Abilities based on their skills. A pilot unlocks a skill at level 5 and 8 of each skill, with the caveat that each pilot can have only two level 5 skill and one level 8 skills, reflecting mastery of their mech.
