Thunderbolt TDR-5SS is a Heavy-class 'Mech in Battletech.
Description[ | ]
The Thunderbolt 5SS is a Steiner variant which relies on long range direct fire weapons. The right arm is equipped with a PPC, the LRMs have been replaced with an SRM-6, and a flamer offers improved close combat. In addition, the TDR-5SS has far better heat management than the 5S.
Loadouts[ | ]
Brawler: 7 x Medium Laser + 1 SRM6. The rest of the available tonnage goes to Jump Jets, Small Lasers, Heat Sinks, or full front armor.
Short Range Laser Boat: Giving up the SRM6 + ammo to free up 4 tons (a single SRM and its ammo are not worth it IMO), allows heavy front armor, extra heat sinks, Jump Jets. good damage per ton, especially with improved med laser variants, ideally placed in water to fire away non stop, or stack more heat sinks.
Laser Boat: 2 x Large Laser + 5 Medium Laser. Remaining tonnage goes to Heat Sinks, Jump Jets, or more armor
Long-Ranged Fire Support: 2 Large Laser + LRM20 w/ 1-2 tons of ammo. Fill the remaining tonnage with Heat Sinks or Jump Jets. You can strip some armor to save on weight.
Strategy[ | ]
- Known for its superb heat management, the Thunderbolt 5SS hits hard at long range with its PPC and then closes to disable or destroy its target with close-range weaponry.
