Vindicator VND-1R is a Medium-class 'Mech in Battletech.

Description[ | ]

The Vindicator 1R was designed by committee to be a cheap, easy-to-manufacture jack of all trades. Surprisingly, the 1R has proven itself a capable fighter, projecting respectable firepower with its PPC, LRM-5, and Medium Laser. While not as mobile as other medium 'Mechs, it does carry Jump Jets, and is both heavily armored and very heat efficient.

Loadouts[ | ]

  • The Vindicator is capable as either a short-range fighter with lasers and SRMs or a long-range sniper focusing on stability damage with a PPC and an LRM. Its slow speed makes it better in the latter role (though in general it's pretty versatile, as it has excellent weapon tonnage).
  • Alternatively, as an early campaign generalist, the LRM-5 can be removed for additional armor.
  • One design I have found successful in the early campaign is a medium laser brawler/flanker. Filling all 5 laser hardpoints and adding an SRM generates significant heat, but can blow through light and medium 'mechs in one or two strikes.

  • Vindicator 1Rs tend to deal their damage at range while moving in for closer attacks. Typically well armored, they're capable of some surprise attacks due to their jump capability and above-average heat efficiency.
