Wolverine WVR-6R is a Medium-class 'Mech in Battletech.

Description

As a fast strike 'Mech, Wolverine 6R is a reasonable choice. High ground speed is mated with satisfactory Jump Jets, allowing the Wolverine to rapidly flank enemy forces. The armament is decent, with an AC/5 for longer range attacks, and an SRM-6 and Medium Laser for closer-in attacks. The light heat output of the 6R means it can sustain fire for a long time.

Loadouts

  • Ultimately, the only real difference between the Wolverine and the Shadow Hawk is hard-point configuration and melee damage.
  • While the Kintaro has the Alpha strike "wow" factor, it should be noted that the Wolverine is more mobile and can still mount SRM6x3 and a Med Laser and slightly better armor, depending on how many JJ you keep after you ditch the AC. More armor, more mobility, and better heat management, the Wolverine can become the thinking man's Kintaro.
  • The 6R variant has just enough tonnage to mount a single AC/20, 2 tons of ammunition, and full Jump Jets. From the stock configuration, just remove all weapons and ammunition, and cut 1 Heat Sink to free enough tonnage for the big gun
  • A popular build for the 6R is a brawler with 3 x SRM6 w/ 2 tons of ammunition + 1 Medium Laser. The remaining tonnage will be enough for full Jump Jets, and maximum front armor.

  • Wolverine 6Rs are fairly flexible in terms of weaponry ranges, tending somewhat more toward closer engagements. This is supported by their jump capability and pretty decent heat management.
